Ladies Interclub Concludes

Gardiners Run Ladies have concluded their 2023 Interclub season with a 3-2 win over Eastwood at Eastern Golf Club, placing us 5th with 2 wins and 3 losses. Again we were lucky with the weather  but Eastern, who had home advantage over a very determined Churchill/Waverley took out the 2023 title.  Overall we had a very enjoyable season and appreciated the opportunity to play on our neighbouring courses.

However a big thank you to all the players and caddies, 20 in all, but a special mention to Lisa Den Elzen ( 5 games), Dianne Skillern and Pam Boulton (both 4 games).

FINAL STANDINGS

Gardiners Run Ladies are mid way through the 2023 Interclub season where members with handicaps between 15 and 36 play matchplay against teams from Churchill/Waverley, Eastern, Eastwood, Heritage and Yering Meadows over a five week period in May.

On Monday 15th May under sunny skies Gardiners Run hosted round 3 if the Interclub series.  A big thank you to the many helpers including Dawn Harvey and Pauline Arnott who acted as spotters on the 6th hole as well as the numerous caddies who have represented Gardiners Run over the past three weeks.

2023 Mixed Foursomes Championship

Congratulations to Des Young and Carol Burns who won the 2023 Mixed Foursomes Championship on Sunday 28th May.  In wet conditions during the second round, Des and Carol combined for an excellent gross score of 87 following their first round 94 (181 total) to win convincingly from James Glenn and Lynette Richardson (100, 101: 201).

Des and Carol also claimed the nett event in a much more even event returning a two-round total of 160 ahead of James Glenn and Lynette Richardson (162) and John and Jan Matthews (170)

2023 Anniversary Cup Winners

Congratulations to our Mens and Ladies 2023 Anniversary Cup winners. 

Lynette Richardson won the Ladies trophy in extremely wet and challenging conditions with a score of 31 points.  It was a credit to Lynette and all the ladies who braved the wintry conditions for the chance to claim the Anniversary Cup.

The Men’s trophy was won by Michael Costigan in a very large field of players.  Michael returned a score of 40 points to claim the trophy on a countback from Daniel Armstrong.

The Anniversary Cup celebrates the opening of Gardiners Run Golf Course in May 2014.  We look forward to celebrating our 10th anniversary in 2024.

May Wine Club Update.

We are sad to say that due to ill health Bob Bloss has resigned. A sad loss of a member who has been with the Wine Club for many years. We wish him well into the future.

This month the wine club enjoyed a winery luncheon this month at Whispering Hills in Seville, a great turn out and a really warm and friendly atmosphere with lots of information about the wine and winery. The food was excellent by all reports. 

We have 24 members from the Wine Club who are about to embark on a 3 day visit to the Pyrenees, we wish them a safe and happy trip.

There will be a meeting of the Wine Club at 11:30am on June 15th to look at suggestions for July and August for our monthly gatherings, we look forward to seeing you all there.
