December Wine Club News

The Wine Club wound up a wonderful year with our annual Xmas Luncheon at the Country Club. It was a happy day with lots of prizes, great food  and plenty of fun and laughter. 2024 is going to come quickly and the committee has already organised the Bowls and Burgundy Night on Friday 2nd of February and then on Thursday 29^th February a luncheon at Stefanis in Yarra Glen. So we are starting of with a couple of great events. Plans are underway for a bus trip to a different wine area and a 4 day trip to Avoca along with several wine tastings and winery luncheons. We wish everyone a Merry Xmas and safe and happy New Year.

2023 Senior Match Play Championship Results

Congratulations to Mick Guinane, winner of the 2023 Senior Matchplay Championship. Mick defeated Peter Goetz 4&2 in final to win his first matchplay competition!

Mick showed impressive form throughout the event winning all his matches in convincing fashion including 5&4, 6&5 and 5&4 before the final!

Stef Silcox Wins 2023 Ladies Championship

Congratulations to our 2023 Ladies Club Champion Stef Silcox! Stef shot a brilliant round of 80 following opening rounds of 95 and 84 to claim her fifth Ladies Championship in the last six years! Stef finished 8 shots clear of runner-up Brenda Henderson, with Brenda winning the nett event. Maria Twisk was crowned the Ladies B Grade Champion finishing 5 shots clear of Therese Vawser. Leonie Carswell finished just one stroke ahead of Maria in the nett division. In the Ladies C Grade Championship, Kerrie Schilling won both the gross and nett events. Well done to all the 2023 Ladies Championship winners!

Don MacPherson Wins Senior Championship

Congratulations to Don MacPherson who won the 2023 Senior Championship defeating Lisa Den Elzen on the first playoff hole.  In a dramatic finish, Don holed his third shot from off the green, before Lisa hit the pin with her third shot but didn’t drop!  This forced a playoff with both players finishing with a three-round total of 210.

With a number of spectators encouraging both players, there was certainly added pressure.  Don played solidly from tee to green and claimed the victory with a nett par to Lisa’s nett bogey.

In the gross division, Des Young once again returned the best three round total of 219 following rounds of 72, 76, 71 leading Michael Brownlie (79, 73, 77: 229) and David Watts (76, 80, 79: 235).
